About
CAMELOT Munnar
As its name implies, Camelot is an idyllic, pleasing and picturesque spot of natural simplicity and happiness. Truly, the spirit of King Arthur must be hovering over this place, blissfully forgetting the time gap of 15 centuries and the distance of thousands of miles. The camp-home is far enough to shut out the hustle and bustle of Munnar town and close enough to reach it in 15 minutes flat in a jeep/bike. Just wandering in and around the resort premises, you can sight dozens of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Animals like elephants, bison, wild dogs and wild boars are often sighted in the mornings and evenings. Birds like black birds, kites, hornbills and many smaller varieties are frequent visitors. Rare insects like the Atlas Moth are seen in abundance. Wild orchids, giant tree ferns, rhododendrons, etc. are also in plenty around the place.

Kochi, the Queen of the Arabian Sea, from ancient times, and the present industrial and commercial capital of Kerala, is also one of the finest natural harbours. Cherai Beach, Bolghatty, Vypeen, Gundu and Willington Islands, two well-packed museums, and Chinese Fishing Nets attract thousands of visitors. The Dutch Palace, the Santha Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, and the Jewish Synagogue all have five centuries of history behind them. From Kochi (international airport at Nedumbassery near Kochi) Munnar is 115 kms away, along NH-49.
From the Temple City of Madurai, in Tamil Nadu, on the banks of the legendary Vaigai River, also you can reach Munnar travelling 170 kms along the same highway from the other side. Madurai is the cradle of the ancient Dravidian culture. The Madurai Meenakshi Temple and several other temples and palaces make this city a world wonder in ancient architecture. The millions of sculptures that cover the temple and palace walls are the finest pieces of ancient art.
From Kumarakam the capital of backwaters tourism, in Kottayam district, you can travel along the state highway and reach Munnar, 165 kms away. On the way are the tourist destinations of Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Ramakkalmedu, Anayirankal Lake, etc., forming parts of the newly announced tourism circuit.
Camelot Camp Home is 8 kms away from Munnar town along the Munnar-Mankulam road. Buses and taxi vehicles will take you to Lachmi, at 6 kms distance, and the last 2 kms can be covered in jeep / land rover.
